THE STORY

What's Left Behind is a documentary series centered on the profound impact of suicide, aiming to candidly explore its effects on families, friends, and communities while providing a path forward for healing and awareness.

The series, created by Gregory Magras on his own journey of loss and healing, captures the difficult journeys of those who have lost loved ones to suicide and those who have survived suicide ideations, featuring their emotional narratives through personal interviews.

Each episode is structured around a specific aspect of what has been "left behind" and how it leads to processes of healing and hope. For example, some episodes delve into questioning one's faith, while others explore seeking resources for recovery. The narrative follows how those left behind begin to heal, with each story guided by unique experiences and perspectives. Those lending their voices to this series have experienced an unimaginable loss, but through their pain, have found purpose and understanding to help others.

What's Left Behind challenges stigmas around suicide by revealing the raw experiences of grief and guilt, while also highlighting the importance of support, mental health interventions, and accessible resources for viewers.

Ultimately, What's Left Behind aims to spark critical, open conversations about suicide and healing. By collaborating with support groups and mental health professionals, the series seeks to give viewers the tools to recognize, address, and better understand this widespread public health crisis.

WHY THIS SERIES

by Gregory Magras | Creator & Executive Producer

What’s Left Behind is an 8-part docuseries that focuses on 8 stories of those whose unimaginable losses have driven them to help others and create lasting legacies for their loved ones.

This is my legacy.

I wanted to look at my pain and find a way, through my faith, to find the purpose in the loss of my father, Lionel, and my oldest daughter, Jamielee.

Although I have found my way, I felt that my journey was not unique to me and wanted to open up a discussion about how others, through their pain, have learned to live with hope, understanding, and love.

Through this series, I have found even a greater sense of community and love, and think our viewers - whether they have lived through the enormity of suicide or not - will find compassion and understanding through the extraordinary stories we will share.
